Codorníu Seleccion Raventos Rosé – Review

This is “POP or FLOP” – where we drop bills on bubbles so you don’t have to! Every Wednesday we review a different sparkling wine from across the globe and let you know if it’s a bottle you should POP or if it’s a FLOP! This week we’ve got Codorníu Seleccion Raventos Rosé from Spain!

Codorníu is one of the world’s oldest and largest producers of traditional method sparkling wine (called “Cava” in Spain). Historical documents show that founder Jaume Codorníu was producing still wines at his vineyards in the Penedès region of Spain all the way back in 1551. And in 1872 cava was born when cava pioneer Josep Raventós produced the first bottles of Spanish traditional method sparkling wine at Codorníu. In 2002 Codorníu produced their first rosé cava, made from 100% pinot noir, and that’s what we’ve got in our flutes today! So let’s taste shall we?

  • Medium rose in colour, with intense streams of fine bubbles and a beautiful mousse – it looks just as inviting as a beach full of hunky Spanish dudes (…or babes) in Barcelona!

  • It’s a POP! This wine will make you long for summer and those carefree backyard BBQ’s with good friends and grilled food. So close your eyes… wait, open your eyes and fill your glass… now close ’em and pretend you’re soaking up the sun in Spain. Salud!
