This is “POP or FLOP”, where we taste test sparkling wines so you don’t have to! This week we’re sipping Wolfberger Brut Crémant d’Alsace! Is this a bottle of bubbles you should POP? 💁 Or is it a FLOP? 🙅 Let’s see…

Wolfberger produces a range of sparkling wines, crafted according to the traditional method defined by the Appellation d’Origines Contrôlées (AOC) of Crémant d’Alsace in France (close to the German border). Crémant d’Alsace can be made using Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Auxerrois Blanc and Chardonnay. This one is made up of 100% Pinot Blanc – coming from vines that are over a century old! We were super excited to try this unique bubbly as we’re totally #crazyforcrémant!

  • Straw in colour, with an intense stream of very fine bubbles almost dancing in the glass! Appears very lively and inviting.

  • Highly aromatic – like a bouquet of fresh cut flowers. Exhibits notes of cooked apple, pear, lemon/lime, honey, a creaminess and a beautiful baked nutty note (reminding us of a walnut strudel)!

  • We got a stunning lemon gelato note on the palate! The bubbles provide a beautifully creamy and refreshing mouthfeel. Additional flavours include baked apple tart, nuttiness and a beautiful minerality. The wine is dry, medium bodied with a vibrant palate cleansing acidity and a strong citrus finish.
