Ring in 2019 with 19 Sparkling Wines under $19 dollars for NYE!

Bubbles in a can? You betcha! Who needs a beer when you can crack open a crisp can of Ontario Sparkling? Packed with ripe tree fruit and citrus flavours, this little guy is medium-sweet and comes in a convenient can format which is super easy to chill and perfect for your NYE house party!

Even MORE bubbles in a can? CAN you believe it? CAN you? Okay, dad-puns aside, we seriously enJOIY this sparkly can of shimmering bubbles. All the bright fruit flavours you'd expect from a sparkling Riesling. Fun, flirty, and… whimsical – with a natural sweetness – it’s certainly a crowd pleaser!

Now Hungary may not be the first place that comes to mind when you hear "Sparkling Wine" – but hear us out! A blend of Királyleányka Rizling (Rhine Riesling), Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay, this wine is crafted using the Méthode Champenoise, at nearly the
same latitude as Champagne, with similar densely chalk-ridden and limestone soils... annnd it's $13.

An impressive Argentinian sparkler at this price point. This blend of Chardonnay, Semillon and Malbec is produced using the Charmat Method (like Prosecco), resulting in a crisp, clean, fruit-forward sparkling wine bursting with citrus on the nose and a nice creamy mouth feel – sure to be a crowd pleaser!

Another sleek South American sparkler, this lovely rosé from Chile is crafted in the Charmat Method from 100% Pinot Noir, and is a gorgeous salmon colour with notes of strawberry and rhubarb pie on the nose. Makes for a great aperitif, or pairs perfectly with a wide array of appetizers and late-night shenanigans!

Cava, Champagne's Spanish cousin, is made using the same method but in a warmer climate, with a blend of different grapes, and a much lower price tag. While there are premium Cavas out there, we typically see more affordable ones on the shelves, and lucky for us they're fantastic value! Golden apple and melon on the nose, with a subtle hint of toast and distinctive minerality, it's pretty darn interesting for under $15 bucks!

This local Charmat Method sparkler is a blend of Chardonnay, Riesling and Pinot Noir. Off-dry, with crisp acidity and bright citrus fruit on the palate. The Riesling shines through in the blend, making it something unique and oh so Ontario!

This bottle-fermented Chardonnay/Pinot Noir blend from Australia has been one of our long-time favourites when we're trying to tighten up the purse strings! Awesome value at under $15 bucks. Super fruit forward with notes of tree and tropical fruit – it's incredibly easy drinking and pairs wonderfully with a second glass (...or bottle), hey 'tis the season! 😜

These Italian bubbles show light floral, strawberry and raspberry aromas with soft ripe fruit flavours and a fresh citrus finish. Bellissimo! Perfect as an apéritif. And, fun fact: all the grapes that go into these pretty-in-pink bubbles were harvested by hand.

Another Cava, and another example of a quality sparkling wine at an incredible value. This one has more of a noticeable toastiness/nuttiness, aromas of baked apple, with a creamy mouthfeel and long finish. More body too! 💪 Whether you're prepping a 4-course meal or putting out a bowl of chips... this'll do the trick!

Lily is that girl that everybody gravitates toward at a party. Bouncy, bubbly, and fun! This sparkler from Colio here in Ontario is bursting with bright tree-fruit flavours, crisp citrus, and a delicate floral character. Move over Raymond… Everybody Loves Lily! 😍

This Blanc de Noir comes from the Burgundy region of France, but... shocker, there's no Pinot Noir in it at all! It's a fresh and fruity blend of Merlot and Grenache with a vibrant nose of cherry and red currant (and one pretty freakin' cool bottle!) 🙌

Pink Pinot Grigio? Yup! Made from the Pinot Grigio grape is actually pink skinned, and this Sparkling gets is colour during the vinification process as the skins maintain contact with the must for 48 hours during fermentation. But nerdiness aside, this fruit forward sparkling is a surefire crowd pleaser and a great wine to have on hand for for any occasion!

Y'know the ol' saying "never judge a book by it's cover"? Well, in this case we suggest that you do. Because the "cover" of this wine is gorgeous, and so is what's inside. Much fruiter and less mineral driven than many Cava's, this one will please the crowds, or the hostess of the NYE party!

Refreshing, with enjoyable lemon zest and tree fruit on the palette, this sparkling is perfect to enjoyment on its own, with those seafood dishes people tend to put out for New Year’s and, hey, since it’s the festive season, it’s perfect for sharing at house parties. You might even make some new friends (…even if it’s just because they want to drink your delicious Prosecco)!

A single vineyard Ontario sparkling Riesling for under $20?! 🤯 We don't ask questions, we just stock up. Elegant and interesting, with a rich mineral character and a big citrus punch. Exceptional value at this price point and one of our favourites. Enjoy with oysters as you toast in 2019! 😎

A mouthful of a name, but you know what? Once you get past the name, you’re going to want a mouthful of this delicious bubbly from Roussillon, France! Pale in colour, dry and medium bodied with balanced acid. Technical deets aside, this wine has beautiful aromas of toast, citrus and pear with a long finish. All in all, a perfect sparkling to impress a host, enjoy on your own (with your cat or pet rock), share with friends or stack in the fridge in case the party migrates to your place!

South African Sparkling may not be on your radar, but this one comes from a 300 year old farm, so trust us, they know what they’re doing. Dry, with a strawberry sherbet like character, it’s easily one of our favourite bottles of bubbly under $20.

Crémant d'Alsace might be our favourite of all the Crémants, and this one is certainly a shining example! Rich and complex, this wine offers the citrus notes you’d expect in a wine from the Alsace, and the toasty notes you’d expect in a high quality traditional method sparkler.
