Some experiences are truly unforgettable, and our recent weekend in New York City was one for the books! We had the absolute pleasure of attending two spectacular Champagne-focused events that left us bubbling with excitement—an intimate tasting with Champagne Tarlant at Barbuto and an effervescent Apero hosted by La Fête du Champagne NYC.
Sipping Through Time with Tarlant
We were honoured to be invited by Champagne Tarlant to their exclusive lunch at Barbuto, where we had the opportunity to explore their exceptional portfolio of Champagnes. What made this tasting truly extraordinary was the chance to sample vintages dating back to the 1990s. Reflecting on where we were in 1991 and 1999 (kindergarten and just about to start high school, respectively), it was fascinating to taste Champagnes from those very years—bottles that have aged with grace, purity, and complexity. The 1990/1 and 1999 cuvées, in particular, stood out for their incredible texture, richness, and expressive character. Champagne may evolve over time, but the magic of Tarlant remains constant.
As longtime fans and proud members of the #TorontoTarlantTeam, it was an absolute joy to finally meet Melanie Tarlant in person. Sharing this experience with fellow Champagne lovers and industry professionals made it all the more special.
Apero with La Fête NYC: Champagne in Large Format
After our incredible lunch, we headed to the Apero hosted by La Fête du Champagne—an evening dedicated to celebrating Champagne in the grandest way possible: via magnums and jeroboams. There’s nothing quite like the elegance of Champagne served from large-format bottles, which not only preserve the wine’s freshness but also enhance its complexity. Surrounded by knowledgeable professionals and a shared love for the art of sparkling wine, we were reminded why Champagne is the ultimate benchmark of excellence—often imitated but never duplicated.
Beyond the remarkable wines, the event transported us straight back to France, making us feel like we had stepped into a Parisian soirée. It was the perfect way to wrap up a day of indulgence, conversation, and celebration.
