They say a bottle of wine is an essential dinner table companion, no matter the season or occasion. And it seems Hollywood has taken note—big time!
From Jay-Z’s portfolio of Champagnes (yes, that Ace of Spades) to Brad Pitt’s Miraval Rosé, to Mary J. Blige’s Sun Goddess line, it seems like every celebrity is getting into the wine game. And the list keeps growing—Sarah Jessica Parker, Nicole Scherzinger, Cameron Diaz… the question is, are celebrity wines actually worth the hype?
Of course, some have sparked more controversy than others. Take Cameron Diaz’s ‘clean wine’ brand, for example, which ignited a heated debate on what exactly it was positioning itself as. We’re still thinking about that Goopification of Grapes article—which helped bring some much-needed clarity to the discussion.
So, why are so many A-listers throwing their hat into the wine ring? Maybe it’s the science, art, and magic of winemaking that makes it an attractive (albeit crowded) business venture. Or maybe they just really, really love wine. Either way, we can’t fault them for wanting a stake in this ever-evolving industry.
That said, we’ve only tried a few celebrity wines ourselves. We recently had the pleasure of meeting the legendary Christie Brinkley and tasting her Bellissima Prosecco—which we really enjoyed! Made from organic grapes, certified vegan, and deliciously dry, it was bright and (almost as) beautiful as Christie herself.
Aside from Miraval and Ace of Spades, we haven’t dived too deep into the world of celebrity wines—so, we’re curious…
