We had the absolute pleasure of attending the launch of Moët-Hennessy’s Luxury Discovery Suite at the Summerhill LCBO in Toronto last week. A brand new pop-up experience that’s the first of it’s kind in the world! Now before we get into the details of our experience (and what you’ll find when you visit) we would like to be up front: it’s incredible. 😍
It’s easily the most beautiful and accessible spot to shop for (and taste!) premium Champagne and other luxury beverages in the city. And if that wasn’t enough, you’ll be enjoying them while chatting and learning about all things luxe from the knowledgeable brand representatives and LCBO product consultants, in a historic train station.
So, what brands are represented? 🤔 From Ruinart to Krug, Dom Pérignon and Moët & Chandon, Veuve Clicquot, Hennessy, Glenmorangie, Belvedere, and even Ao Yun (Moët-Hennessy’s luxury red wine from China) – there’s a full portfolio of premium products on display (with some available for tasting!) during the pop-up’s run from November 14th to December 8th, 2018.
Not only did we get to take in the elegant surroundings and feels (which can be summed up as what a dream Parisian apartment would look like 🥖👨🎨🥂), we also had the opportunity to sample the 2009 Dom Pérignon, one of the last releases by the long-standing Chef de Caves Richard Geoffroy. Of course, it has all the signature notes of its predecessors: infectious energy, beautiful acidity, a touch of smoke and rich minerality.
On that note (no pun intended), we had the chance to speak to Véronique Gonneville of Moët-Hennessy to better understand the wine and Luxury Discovery Suite concept. She reminded us that Geoffroy, the Chef de Caves, always speaks of the energy of his wines, and we very much felt that energy as we enjoyed the 2009 Dom Pérignon in our glasses. What we appreciated most from Véronique speaking about the Luxury Discovery Suite is that while, obviously, it conveys the essence of the Moët-Hennessy portfolio, with its elegant design touches, those same touches are intended to humanize the brands that are known worldwide for their exceptional quality. From literature and photo-books associated with Veuve Clicquot, to art based on the harvest, to snapshots of the historic and modern facilities from which the champagnes originate, we very much felt we were making a personal connection with the wine and its origins as we enjoyed it.
So, what else can you expect at the Luxury Discovery Suite?
You’ll be able to enjoy an exclusive series of tastings that will introduce or reacquaint you with brands built on a legacy of exceptional quality. And best of all, for most days and for most events, it’s drop in only and no need to register. For example, Ruinart’s Blanc de Blancs will be sampled on Saturday, December 1, 2018 from 2 to 4 p.m., and the brand ambassador will take you through the history of one of the most beautiful Champagne houses in France.
If you’re feeling like making a reservation, then the exclusive Dinners are where you’ll wanna be. Moët-Hennessy will host a series of ultra intimate and luxe dinners in the Luxury Discovery Suite, paired with their exceptional portfolio. But act fast, these once in a lifetime experiences sell out (and you won’t want to miss the boat on any of them!).
