We were absolutely honoured to receive the 2024 Wine Marketing Association of Ontario Journalism Award at the Ontario Wine Awards.
When we started Sparkling Winos eight years ago, it began with a personal curiosity about wine, a desire to learn about the fascinating and dynamic wine industry, a love of all things local, and a wish to bring our own voice to the conversation.
As our project grew, we embarked on incredible experiences—publishing our book Life is the Bubbles, opening our wine lodge Coupe Niagara, hosting countless events and tasting experiences, and so much more. We have had the distinct pleasure of travelling the world, meeting incredible winemakers and industry professionals, and of course, tasting some exceptional wines.
Ontario wines continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with the world’s best, and so many wonderful examples were honoured and celebrated at the Ontario Wine Awards today at the beautiful Pearle Hotel in Burlington. We even had the pleasure of sharing the table with Gold Medal-winning winemaker Amelie from Chateau des Charmes, who received her prize for her delicious Blanc de Blancs.
One of the most powerful insights we’ve gained on this journey is that wine is more than just what’s in the glass. It’s the places, the people—the incredible winemakers, proprietors, and professionals—and their stories that make it so special. That is what we have loved capturing and sharing.
We accept this award with deep gratitude and raise a glass of Ontario sparkling wine in celebration!
