A Sparkling Recap of #i4C17: The International Cool Climate Chardonnay Celebration

This year, we Sparkling Winos had the privilege of attending the International Cool Climate Chardonnay Celebration (aka “i4C“) in Wine Country Ontario! It’s no surprise that i4C has been described as “Christmas in July” or the “Woodstock of Chardonnay”. With over 50 wine makers in attendance (and 150+ selected cool climate wines on offer) i4C is truly an epic celebration of all things cool… and the highlight of the summer calendar here in Niagara!

A Weekend in Wine Country: The Niagara Escarpment & Twenty Valley

This past Victoria Day long weekend we were lucky enough to head out to the Niagara Escarpment & Twenty Valley in Wine Country Ontario to promote the new 2017 Travel Guide! The Niagara Escarpment & Twenty Valley is home to 47 wineries, 16 historical sites, 14 restaurants, 8 cycling trails, 6 music festivals… and a whole lot more!

A Sparkling Birthday Weekend in Niagara

Last weekend we fuelled up our new Mini Cooper (…the jury is still out on her name!) and headed out to Wine Country Ontario for a little road trip to celebrate my (Jeff’s) birthday. Mike was kind enough to be the DD, as I tasted through an assortment of beautiful bubbles at some of our favourite local wineries. Here’s a little re-cap of our sparkling weekend!

Why Ontario Sparkling Wines are the Best, Eh!

That’s right! There’s more to Canada than maple syrup, polar bears and a hunky Prime Minister! The country is home to a diverse array of climates, with certain areas (like southern Ontario) on the same ideal grape growing latitude as southern France. Fortunately for us Toronto based #SparklingWinos, that means we’re able to produce world class wines in our own backyard!

A Sparkling Niagara Icewine Festival

Icewine is the crown jewel of the Ontario wine industry, and is celebrated every January at the Niagara Icewine Festival! Thanks to Wine Country Ontario we had the pleasure of attending this year’s spectacular kick off event – the Xerox Icewine Gala – which left an absolutely sparkling impression on us! 😍

Tasting all of Nino Franco’s Prosecco!

We are lucky to have quite a few Venetian friends here in Toronto. Our conversations usually revolve around how different northern Italy is compared to the south (true), how beautiful the Veneto is (very true) and how great Prosecco (especially Nino Franco’s Prosecco) is – also very true! We visited the Nino Franco winery in Valdobbiadene at the end of August 2016. The late summer sun provided a beautiful, warm back drop for our visit to the scenic winery, which was buzzing with harvest prep.
